WOW! Meeting of the Minds 2002 will be one for the record books. Absolutely perfect weather and the man himself shows up! What a birthday present I received on Oct 31st, 2002 when Jimmy showed up at the Margaritaville Cafe in Key West while I was there to see St Somewhere. Jimmy joined the band while they were singing Southern Cross and played with them for two sets. It was definitely the most memorable Buffett show I've been to. Jimmy had been to Louie's Backyard in Key West and was feeling pretty good. I've seen a lot of great Buffett concerts, but I've never seen Jimmy play with such passion before. He was having a ball and enjoying every second of it. I was right up front and I can tell you the crowd was awesome, singing every note along with Jimmy, and he was soaking up all the energy from the crowd.
Jimmy also announced that he would be the "surprise guest" during the Street Festival on Friday, but jokingly asked everyone not to say anything because it was a "secret". I think my favorite JB quote from the evening went something like this (I am paraphrasing here)..."This is America. We have fun. That's what we do. If you don't like it, then fuck you!" Great job Jimmy! You may get copies and see the whole set of these photos here.
Thank you to the many people who've emailed me about these pictures and to the thousands of people who've enjoyed them. I'm glad I could take you there for a few minutes. But most of all, thank you Jimmy!
The Video is now online!
